As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. TAR CAMP (AR), ARDescriptionOpen Year Around: RESERVATION SEASON FROM MARCH 1st TO SEPTEMBER 15. CAMPING OUTSIDE OF THIS PERIOD WILL BE FIRST COME FIRST SERVE ONLY. Tar Camp Campground is located on the Arkansas River by Pool 5 Lock and Dam. The area provides something for everyone whether it's camping, fishing, boating, or just relaxing in the sun. The Tar Camp Campground offers 58 sites, 38 with electric and water hookups. Additional ameniti include hot showers, a dump station, a boat launch, a playground, and public telephones.
