Enjoy a Corps site today!

As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. TAYLOR FERRY (OK), OK

Description

Fort Gibson Lake is located along the Grand (Neosho) River and is nestled in the hills of eastern Oklahoma. The lake draws its name from historic Fort Gibson, which played a prominent part in the military history of early day Oklahoma. A reconstructed log stockade stands on the site of the first log fort, and volunteers reenact the lifestyle of the late 1800s for various events throughout the year. Now a National Historical Landmark, the stockade is owned by the state of Oklahoma and is open to the public year round. Taylor Ferry South is one of six Campgrounds on Fort Gibson Lake that is available for reservations through Reserve America. Reservations are available April 1 through September 30. The campground is located on the main body of the lake, and campers will enjoy the wooded surroundings, as well as, the sandy beach nearby. Bird watchers will be thrilled by the variety of migratory birds that pass through the area. Large Canada geese frequently visit the park in the morning and the evening hours. Whether camping, picnicking, fishing or just sightseeing, we invite you to come and enjoy the scenic beauty of Fort Gibson Lake.
