SUTTON BLUFF RECREATION AREA (MO), MO

Description

Sutton Bluff is located 13 miles outside Centerville, Missouri, on the Black River. There is a 20 mile all-terrain vehicle trail that can be accessed from the campground (permit required). The Ozark Trail passes near the campground (hiking, horseback riding & mountain biking). Roomy campsites surrounded by open lawn and natural shading, cool breezes, abundant songbirds, and scenic views all add to this lovely campground.

Alerts and Important Information

The Sutton Bluff Campground will re-open to the public on June 27, 2009. Reservations for campsites can be made starting June 29, 2009. Currently all OHV trails at Sutton Bluff will continue to be closed until clean up operations can fully be accomplished and the trails are once again safe to ride.   • Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.
  • 2 vehicles per campsite or an additional parking fee of $2.00 will apply.
  • Travel from Centerville is approximately 10 miles of gravel.
  • No electricity.
  • Firewood and ice may be available at Host site.
  • All terrain vehicles/motorcycle permits required ($35 a year or $5 a day), if riding FS trails in area.
  • Reynolds County permit also required to ride ATVs on FS and county roads.
  • No livestock (cows, mules, and horses) allowed. Campground open from the first full weekend in April to the last full weekend in October.
  • All sites designed for tents and/or a camper trailer. Large RVs are not well accommodated.

    From Centerville, Missouri, go 3 miles northeast on Highway 21. Take County Road 907 northwest for 7 miles. Turn on County Road 849, traveling south for 3 miles.
