As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. ST LUCIE SOUTH (FL), FL

Description

The tropical vegetation and atmosphere provides an excellent location to camp, fish, boat, or enjoy hours of quiet contemplation. The St. Lucie South Campground offers 9 RV/tent sites and 8 Cruiser sites with electric and water hook ups. There are also 3 tent sites with no hook-ups. Additional amenities include a dump station, hot showers, public phones, a playground, a boat ramp, and a shelter. While enjoying nature's beauty, visitors may view boats and manatees locking through the St. Lucie Lock as they travel the Okeechobee Waterway or enjoy a picnic lunch in the adjacent day use area. A nature trail is also located on the north side of the St. Lucie Lock.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. The campground is open year round. Gates open at 6:00 am and close at Sunset. Park attendants are on duty and the campground telephone number is 772-287- 1382.
  • Cruiser sites are ONLY for boats that accommodate sleeping; There is NO area for TENTS or RV's at these sites.
  • No vehicles or trailers allowed on tent sites.
  • Pets must be leashed.
  • This campground has first-come, first-served sites.
  • Ortona South and St. Lucie South are part of the same water resource project and therefore fall under the same 14 day in a 30 period requirement. Campers can not stay at St. Lucie South for 14 days and then stay at Ortona South for 14 days unless they stay elsewhere for 16 days in between. Also Campers cannot use different names for the same RV to get around this window.

From I-95, take Exit 101 (Stuart/Indiantown), following SR 76 W for 0.5 miles to Locks Road. Turn right onto Locks Road and follow signs into the campground.
