SPILLWAY RECREATION AREA (MO), MO

Description

Located in the southeastern Ozark foothills of Missouri, the Spillway Recreation Area on the Wappapello Lake Project is a place the family can enjoy. This day use area includes one large shelter, several picnic sites, volleyball court, playground, restaurant, horseshoe pits, bank fishing, nature trail, and a boat ramp. *Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.* This is a day-use area. There is no overnight camping allowed.

From St. Louis, Missouri: Take I-55 South to US Hwy 67 South to State Hwy D (located just South of Greenville, Missouri). Take State Hwy D south for 20 miles to State Hwy T go across Wappapello Dam and take the first left onto a paved road and watch for signs. From Poplar Bluff, Missouri: Take US Hwy 60 East to State Hwy T North. Go North on State Hwy T for 22 miles and watch for signs.

  • Missouri Beautification Association Roadside Cleanup
    Groups, organizations and individuals volunteer to team up in helping to clean up roadways that surround the Wappapello Lake area. on Apr 03 2010
  • 32nd Annual Old Greenville Black Powder Rendezvous
    This is the longest consecutive rendezvous in the state of Missouri and it is held in the Greenville Recreation Area. There will be crafts, demonstrations, shooting competitions, traders and food for all representing the mid 1800's time period. Admission is free to the public. from Apr 17 2010 to Apr 18 2010
  • 2010 National Drag Boat Races This event will be held in the Redman Recreation Day Use Area cove. from May 22 2010 to May 23 2010
  • Wappapello Outdoors Opportunity for Disabled Sportsmen (W.O.O.D.S.)
    This event held a the Redman Creek Recreation Area consists of a variety of recreational activities for the mentally and physically challenged i.e. fishing, archery and pellet shoot, dutch oven cooking, building birdhouses etc. This event is free to attend. on Jun 05 2010
  • 7th Annual National Get Outdoors Day & Car Show
    Many activities will be happening during this day long celebration including a car show, live music, children's games and informational booths at the Redman Recreation Area. Free to attend. on Jun 12 2010
  • Kids Fishing Derby
    Event is open to all children under the age of 16. This event includes not only fishing activities but also archery and pellet gun shooting. This event will be held at the Redman and Spillway Recreation Areas. on Jun 19 2010
  • Ranger Willie's Wet and Wild Waterfest
    A variety of family oriented water safety games and activities such as tug of war, PFD fashion show, dunking booth, canoe/inner tube racing, card board boat building/racing, sand sculpturing and much more will be held at the Redman Creek Beach Area. This event is free to attend. on Jul 03 2010

    This Christmas festival auto tour is held in the Redman Creek East Campground. Businesses, groups, organizations and individuals are encouraged to decorate a campsite. Campsite set up and tour is free to the public. from Nov 26 2010 to Jan 01 2011
