Description

Sheep Springs Horse Camp is located about five miles North West of Camp Sherman, Oregon. This beautiful wooded campground is situated in a mixed pine and fir forest at approximately 3200 feet in elevation. Horse Campers may only use Certified Weed-Seed Free Hay when you stay at any of our USFS Horse Campgrounds. Sheep Springs Horse Camp is intended for use by campers with horses. Campground fees are for occupancy by single vehicle unless otherwise stated - a vehicle and trailer are considered a single vehicle. A fee of $8 for extra vehicles (2nd vehicle for single sites, 3rd and 4th vehicles for double sites) will be collected at the campground. Extra vehicles must fit within your campsite's designated parking area. Available parking space varies for each campsite, though there is generally enough space to accommodate one extra vehicle less than eighteen feet in total length. Maximum vehicle lengths established for individual campsites are recommendations based on factors such as driveway length, gradient, and vehicle in a variety turning radius limitations, and assume drivers are reasonably skilled at maneuvering their vehicle in a variety of parking situations. Parking spurs may not be perfectly level. Horses must be kept in stalls provided, and may not be teathered or picketed outside of stalls. All horse trails accessible from this campground are OPEN. Water is available in the campground.

FS ROAD 12 ACCESS (recommended) - About 2 mile east of the Suttle Lake turnoff on Highway 20 (about 12 miles west of Sisters), turn north off of Highway 20 onto Jack Lake Road (FS road 12). Follow road 12 for almost 6 miles and turn left onto Road 1260 (be careful not to be lured onto Road 1230 around 3 miles). Follow 1260 for a little over a mile, and turn right on road 200. Just less than a mile up Road 200 you will find Sheep Springs Campground on the right. THROUGH CAMP SHERMAN - Approximately nine miles west of Sisters on Highway 20, turn north onto the road to Camp Sherman (FS Road 14). Proceed about 2 miles, and follow the sign "To Resorts" straight-ahead (FS 1419). Go about 2 miles, past several houses and cabins, and the fire station, to a four way stop. At the four-way stop go straight onto Road 1420, 3-plus miles, past the Redmond Saddle Club. Turn left at the next main road (FS 12). Follow Road 12 just less than a mile, and turn right onto FS 1260. A little over a mile on road 1260 turn right onto road 200. Just less than a mile Road 200 you will find Sheep Springs Campground on the right.
