Description

Fort Gibson Lake is located along the Grand (Neosho) River and is nestled in the hills of eastern Oklahoma. The lake draws its name from historic Fort Gibson, which played a prominent part in the military history of early Oklahoma. A reconstructed log stockade stands on the site of the first log fort, and volunteers reenact the lifestyle of the late 1800s for various events throughout the year. Now a National Historical Landmark, the stockade is owned by the state of Oklahoma and is open to the public year round. Rocky Point is one of 6 campgrounds available for reservations through Reserve America. Reservations are available April 1 through September 30. The campground provides excellent access to Flat Rock Bay and the upper portion of the lake. Rocky Point is the only campground at Fort Gibson that has a designated swim beach within the park gates.
