Description

This 14-site campground is located on the Mt Hood National Forest in the Old Maid Flat Geologic Area at 2100 feet of elevation. Several Mt Hood Wilderness trails are accessible from the campground. The campground has hand pump wells, dumpsters and vault toilets. Riley Horse Camp corrals have been recently reconstructed thanks to the volunteer efforts of Oregon Equestrian Trails.

Alerts and Important Information

  • Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.
  • This campground has first-come, first-serve sites.
  • No ATV's or ORV's allowed.
  • Pets must be leashed.
  • Campsite must be occupied the first night.
  • Fires in fire circles only.
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
  • Vehicles must be parked on the spur.
  • Quiet hours 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Maximum 2 vehicles for single sites.

    Camping fee pays for 1 vehicle per site. There is an extra vehicle fee of 50% of the site fee for any vehicle (motorhome, trailer or passenger vehicle) that is not towed with the first vehicle. Any extra vehicle fees will be collected at the campground.

    This campground is designed for horse camping. Sites 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8 have four horse corrals; site 10 has a two horse corrals. The other sites have hitching rails.

    Follow US Hwy 26 for 18 miles past the town of Sandy to the community of Zigzag. Turn north (left) onto Lolo Pass Road (Rd 18). Travel for 4.5 miles, then turn right on Rd 1825 and continue for approximately 1/2 mile. Bear right, still on Rd 1825, cross the Sandy River bridge, and continue for another 1/2 mile to Rd 1825-382. Turn right, cross the Lost Creek bridge, and the campground will be almost immediately on the right.
