As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. OUTFLOW CAMPING (PA), PA

Description

The Outflow Camping Area is located on Youghiogheny River Lake. The lake lies in the heart of the Laurel Highlands and spans the Mason-Dixon Line between Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Clean waters, forested mountains, and steep-sided valleys provide an unsurpassed setting for recreation opportunities, such as camping, fishing, boating, hiking, water-skiing, biking, picnicking, sightseeing, and more. Youghiogheny Lake's outflow area is renowned for its excellent trout fishing and is stocked from April-September each year.

Nearby attractions include some of Pennsylvania and Maryland's finest state parks. Ohiopyle State Park, PA, is especially known for some of the best whitewater in the East, and is often the scene of national kayaking competitions. Cyclists will enjoy the many miles of bike trails in the area. For the history buff, the area abounds in historical sites and parks. For sheer natural beauty, Youghiogheny Lake can't be beat.

Summer temperatures usually range from the 50s to the 80s.

Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance.
No Alcohol.
Release warning siren from hydropower plant will be heard.
Campground operates under self-registration with reduced facilities before and after the summer recreation season.
Call the project office for further information.
Maximum 2 tents or 1 tent and 1 trailer allowed per site.
All equipment/vehicles must fit on site pad.
This is the Outflow Campground at Youghiogheny Lake, often confused with the Tionesta Rec Area Campground at the Outflow at Tionesta Lake, PA.
This campground has first-come, first-serve sites available.

Rte. 281 S from points north: Continue south through Confluence, and over the Casselman & Youghiogheny Rivers. Make immediate left into campground.
Rte. 281 N from Rte. 40: Continue north 7 miles, past the Youghiogheny River Lake entrance. Make next right into campground.
Rte. 523 N from Rte. 40: Continue north 7 miles to Confluence. Turn left onto Rte. 281 S, over the Casselman & Youghiogheny Rivers. Make next left into campground.
