As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. ORTONA SOUTH (FL), FL

Description

The tropical vegetation and atmosphere provides an excellent location for friends and family to camp, fish, or enjoy hours of quiet contemplation. By travelling to the south side of the river, visitors can enjoy picnic sites, picnic shelters and have access to a boat ramp.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. The campground is open year round. Campground telephone number is 863-675-8400.
  • Located just 15 minutes east of LaBelle, Florida.
  • Gates open at 6:00 am and close at 10:00 pm.
  • Attendants are on duty.
  • No all-terrain vehicles or off-road vehicles allowed.
  • First-come, first-served sites available.
  • Ortona South and St. Lucie South are part of the same water resource project and therefor fall under the same 14 day in a 30 period requirement. Campers can not stay at St. Lucie South for 14 days and then stay at Ortona South for 14 days unless they stay elsewhere for 16 days in between. Also Campers cannot use different names for the same RV to get around this window.
