MOOSE LAKE (WI), WIDescriptionMoose lake is a 1670 acre flowage with Muskie, walleye, large & small mouth bass, and panfish. The campground is near the elk release site, and other nearby lakes and streams. The boat landing is located within the campground. The campground is located in a maple and birch forest. During off-peak, reservations are not taken, but the campground is open with full services from May 1st thru Oct 27th on a first come first serve basis.Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important InformationThe Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (CNNF) has prohibited the possession, storage or transportation of any firewood that originates from outside the state of Wisconsin or that originates from more than 25 miles from the destination point. The exception is firewood gathered on the CNNF. This is to prevent the spread the Emerald Ash Borer and other exotic insect pests. Pets are allowed but must be leashed and not left unattended. No firearms or fireworks allowed in campground. Getting There:Moose Lake (WI)Great Divide Ranger Dist. USFS, 10650 Nyman Ave. PO Box 896 Hayward WI 54843 GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude): 46.01639, -90.025 Travel East from Hayward on Hwy 77 for 26.8 miles. Turn right (south) on Forest Road 174 and drive 1 miles to the intersection of Forest Road 174 and Forest Service road 176. Turn right (south) on 174 and drive 5.1 miles. Turn right (west) and drive 1.5 miles to campground. From Loretta/Draper on Hwy 70 go north from Loretta on county highway GG go 8 miles to forest road 172.
