As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. MCKINNEY CAMPGROUND (GA), GA

Description

McKinney Campground is located on Allatoona Lake in Georgia. Located only 30 miles from Atlanta, the lake offers a respite from the rush of city living. More than 13 million visitors each year enjoy picnicking, camping, hunting, fishing, swimming and other water sports, and observing the abundant wildlife along the shores of this beautiful lake. The McKinney Campground offers 150 sites with electric and water hookups. Additional amenities include a dump station, laundry facilities, hot showers, a boat ramp, and swimming beaches.

Alerts and Important Information

Due to repaving under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act at McKaskey, McKinney and Victoria Campgrounds, reservations are not being taken during the period 15 March 2010 thru 30 April 2010; however, some walk-in campsites may be available at these campgrounds during this period.

Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance.
2 night minimum on weekends.
3 night minimum on holidays.
The campground is open year round and campsites are $20-$26 per night.
Attendents are on duty.
During the period, April 1 thru September 30, gate locked at 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
During the period October 1 thru March 31, gate locked at 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Sites 1 to 77 are seasonal and are closed from December 1st until March 1st.
No ATV's or ORV's allowed.
Two Pet Limit

This campground has first come, first serve sites. Campground DOES NOT make advance reservations. You may go to the campground or contact the Allatoona Lake Project Management Office at 678-721-6700 to check availabiltiy of first-come, first-serve sites.

From I-75, take Exit 278, go East for 3 miles on Glade Road to the 2nd 4-way stop, turn left on King's Camp Road, go 1 mile to road fork and take a left. Follow signs into the campground.
