MCGEE CREEK (CA), CA

Description

McGee Creek is located approximately 36 miles northwest of the town of Bishop, California, adjacent to McGee Creek. This camp area is located in a flat, open area with sagebrush and a meadow. Some aspen in the vicinity. McGee Creek is at an elevation of 7,600 feet with high mountains and an outstanding view. Firewood is for sale at the site. Roads and spurs are paved. Flush toilets are provided. Popular activities include fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, horseback riding, hunting, photography and geology study. McGee trout fishing and Crowley Lake fishing. Equestrian Center nearby. The Mammoth Jazz Jubilee is held in mid-July. Some sites may be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Opening and closing dates for the season are dependent on Weather.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. This campground requires a 2 day minimum stay on weekends. This campground requires a 3 day minimum stay on holiday weekends. Sites hold 2 passenger vehicles, or 1 RV/trailer maximum. A trailer/ RV is considered one vehicle. A fee of $7.00 for extra vehicles will be collected at campground. Check in with campground manager on arrival. No refunds are given for bad weather.

Off US Highway 395 take the first exit after Crowley Lake, the McGee Creek exit, and proceed 2 miles south up the paved McGee Creek Road to the campground.
