MAIN DAY USE (WI), WI

Description

The Main Day Use at Eau Galle Recreation Area offers a variety of activities for everyone. There are two reservable group shelters and a smaller non-reservable shelter. The East Shelter has replaced the Dome Shelter.

Amenities include a playground, flush toilets, horseshoe pits, vending machines, large open area, a boat ramp, pay phone, a swimming beach with change house, volleyball courts, two fishing docks, and hiking trails. Crystal Cave, golf courses, gift stores and other attractions are within minutes.

Alerts and Important Information

  • Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance.
  • The Main Day Use is open 6am to 10pm from late April until late fall.
  • Access to the lake is kept open throughout the winter (November - April) for those who wish to ice fish.
  • The two group shelters are available for reservation from May - October.
  • Electric motors only on lake.
  • No pets in the beach area.
  • No glass bottles in the beach area.
  • Vehicle permits are no longer included with the shelter reservations and must be purchased at the park.
  • Discounted vehicle permits are available by contacting the park office at least two weeks prior to the reservation.

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (CNNF) has prohibited the possession, storage or transportation of any firewood that originates from outside the state of Wisconsin or that originates from more than 25 miles from the destination point. The exception is firewood gathered on the CNNF. This is to prevent the spread the Emerald Ash Borer and other exotic insect pests. Firewood is available at or near camping facilities.
Pets are allowed but must be leashed and not left unattended.
No firearms or fireworks allowed in campground.
