As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. FIREWOOD ALERT!!!!!: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like for you to be aware of the potential serious threat to our Nation's forest from the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). The EAB is a small insect that feeds on and kills ash trees and is transported via infested wood products, including firewood. Please visit the following website: http://www.emeraldashborer.info/ , to see if your area of the state has been infected and help us to slow down the progression of this pest by not bringing firewood with you to our campgrounds. To help eliminate the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer please do not remove firewood from the campground "burn it". LOTUS GROUP AREA (IL), ILDescriptionThe Lotus Group area is located in Coles Creek Recreation Area. If your group is in search of a secluded place to camp look no further. Lotus Group area has ten enclosed shelters with electric for overnight use. The area has one large enclosed shelter with seating for 30 people, a sink, and kitchen cabinets. The area includes a large outside fire ring, ideal for a large group, playground equipment, and vault toilet facilities. Lotus Group area is within walking distance from the Coles Creek Beach and Day Use Area.Services & Amenities:

(Latitude, Longitude): 38.6975, -90.53583 From I-57 : Take old U.S. Hwy. 50 and travel West through Salem, Odin and Sandoval (19 MI) and turn North on Boulder Road. Take Boulder Rd. North 4 mi. Turn East on 1700 N and continue until the road connects with 2400 E. Continue South to Coles Creek entrance, turn Right before reaching the Coles Creek Campground entrance road and proceed North to Lotus Group Area. From I-64 : Take Rt. 127 North to Carlyle. Travel East on Old U.S. Hwy. 50 for 9 mi. Turn North on Boulder Road. Take Boulder Rd. North 4 mi. Turn East on 1700 N and continue until the road connects with 2400 E. continue South to Coles Creek entrance, turn Right before reaching the Coles Creek Campground entrance road and proceed North to Lotus Group Area.
