Description

Located adjacent to Loon Lake Reservoir at an elevation of 6,500 feet. Situated in a mixed coniferous forest with granite formations. Two miles from wilderness boundary. Popular activities include fishing, boating, hiking, four-wheeling, and horseback riding. Restrooms and boat launch are provided. Firewood sold at the campground. For local information call the Eldorado Information Center at (530)644-6048 Those camping in the equestrian sites must have a horse or expect to be relocated upon arrival subject to site availability.

Alerts and Important Information

Loon Lake may be open earlier than the stated dates on a first come- first serve basis if the snow melts sooner. Please call to check.Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. 2 night minimum weekends stay. A per day fee for extra vehicles will be collected at the campground. NO ATV's or ORV's allowed.
CAUTION: Bears frequent the area. All food must be kept in approved containers. There are no electrical and/or water or sewer site hook-ups at the campground. The site fee you have paid only includes one vehicle. If you have an additional vehicle, a fee will be collected at the campground. Vehicles park in developed areas only.
