LAKE FORK(RIO GRANDE NATL FORE (CO), CO

Description

This is the Lake Fork in the Rio Grande Forest near Alamosa and Antonito. (It is not the Curecanti Rec. Area of Gunnison NF near Carbondale)

Located in south central Colorado on the banks of the Conejos River, the campground is shaded by spruce and aspen trees, a few cottonwoods and willows scattered throughout. With its position on the river, there is plenty of opportunity for every fisherman. Hikers and nature lovers will find adventure on the nearby Big Lake Trail and Rock Lake Trail.

Lake Fork campground is open mid-May through Labor Day weekend. Reservations can be made 6 months in advance but must be at least 4 days prior to your intended arrival date.

    From Antonito, travel west on Highway 17 approximately 24 miles to junction of Highway 17 and 250. Turn on Highway 250 and travel 18 miles on gravel road to Lake Fork Campground.
