As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. FIREWOOD ALERT!!!!!:: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like for you to be aware of the potential serious threat to our Nation's forest from the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). The EAB is a small insect that feeds on and kills ash trees and is transported via infested wood products, including firewood. Please visit the following website: http://www.emeraldashborer.info/, to see if your area of the state has been infected and help us to slow down the progression of this pest by not bringing firewood with you to our campgrounds. DOWNSTREAM CAMPGROUND (ND), NDDescriptionThe Downstream Campground is located on the east bank of the Missouri River below Garrison Dam.There are numerous outdoor recreation opportunities located throughout the area, with 5 boat ramps within three miles of the campground. The campground is also adjacent to a large, wooded wildlife management area and a National Fish Hatchery. There are two public recreation areas within two miles that have picnic shelters, grills, a swim beach, modern restrooms, vault toilets, sand volleyball courts, playgrounds, horseshoe pits and a basketball court. The campground consists of 3 modern camp loops with 101 electrical sites and a primitive loop with 17 non-electrical sites. Amenities in the campground area include a dump station, three comfort stations with showers, grills, picnic tables, pay phone, two playgrounds, vault toilets, and paved roads in all campgrounds. Getting There:Downstream Campground (ND)PO BOX 527 Riverdale ND 58565-0527 GPS Info. (Latitude, Longitude): 47.49444, -101.40028 FROM BISMARCK: take Highway 83 North and turn left on Highway 200 West towards Riverdale. Just past Riverdale, after crossing the Spillway Bridge, take a left on the Tow Road down the face of the dam. At bottom intersection, turn left and go 1/4 mile East and turn right onto the campground access road. Campground is one mile south from here. FROM MINOT: take Highway 83 South and turn right on Highway 200 West towards Riverdale. Just past Riverdale, after crossing the Spillway Bridge, take a left on the Tow Road down the face of the dam. At bottom intersection, turn left and go ÃÂÃÂÃÂü mile East and turn right onto the campground access road. Campground is one mile south from here.
