Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.
Deadwood Lookout is accessible only by a steep, narrow, winding dirt road. High clearance vehicles are recommended. Trailers are not advisable.
Weather conditions and snow may delay opening of the road to Deadwood Lookout beyond the planned opening date, and may force early closure of the road prior to the planned closing date.
Please call the Emmett Ranger District 208-365-7000 before your trip if you have questions about the condition of the road to Deadwood Lookout.
Renters must bring water; none is available at or near the Lookout.
Renters should also bring firewood.
Horses and other stock are not allowed.
The combination to the gate and lookout will be in your confirmation letter. You must have the combination prior to your stay at Deadwood Lookout.

From Boise, Idaho take Highway 55 north about 35 miles to Banks, Idaho. Turn right (east) on the Banks-Lowman Road and proceed 25 miles to the junction with Forest Road 555. Turn left (north) on Road 555 and proceed 9 miles to the junction of Roads 555 and 555EC. Turn right on Road 555EC and proceed 3 miles to Deadwood Lookout Recreation Cabin at the end of the road.
