Description

Dam West Spillway is located at Carlyle Lake, near Carlyle, Illinois. If you and your family are in search of fun, look no further! Whether you are land loving or ready to venture out on the open water, at Carlyle Lake there is something for everyone! You can visit for the day or pack up for a longer stay in one of the many lakeside campgrounds and enjoy being surrounded by outdoor adventures. Carlyle Lake offers many opportunities for family fun. From boating and sailing in the open waters, to the sandy beaches and shaded picnic areas, we are sure that you will find plenty of things to do. While here, visitors enjoy a leisurely stroll across the Main Dam, cycle around the lake, or a strenuous workout along the miles of hiking trails . Each year, the Corps of Engineers along with its partners, sponsor many special events and the Arts & Ecology Environmental Education Series. Carlyle Lake is also known for excellent fishing and hunting areas. Group shelters are available for reservation.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance.

Group shelters may be reserved from May 1 through October 31.

Shelter hours are 8:00am until 10:00pm daily.

This is a day use facility. No overnight camping permitted.

From I-70: Take Rt 127 south to Carlyle and turn east on William Rd. Take William Road for 1/2 mile to Lake Road, proceed south on Lake Road until reaching West Spillway entrance.

From I-64: Take Rt. 127 north for 14 miles. Turn east on Williams Road. Take Williams Road to Lake Road for 1/2 mile, proceed south on Lake Road until reaching West Spillway entrance.

From I-57 heading south, go west on I-70, head south on Rte 127 in Greenville. Go 24 miles to Carlyle, turn left on William Raod (1840 E), William Road will turn into Lake Road (1430 N), after beach turn left into West Spillway.

From I-57 heading North, go west on I-64 to Route 127. Head North 14 miles to Caryle. Approximately 1/4 miles north of Hwy 50, turn east on William Road (1840 E). William Road will turn inot Lake Road (1430 N). The spillway entrance will be past the beach on the left.
