As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. WEST THOMPSON LAKE (CT), CTDescriptionThe natural setting surrounding West Thompson Lake can be enjoyed year round. Pleasing views from the dam offer sightseers and photographers a panoramic view of the area. Hikers, picnickers, and visitors will discover a wide variety of natural areas to explore including a hiking trail around the lake. The campground offers 24 campsites: 11 basic, 11 with electric and water hookups, and 2 Adirondack shelters. Other campground amenities include handicapped accessible restrooms and showers, flush toilets, dump station, and public telephones. Hiking and interpretive trails, an amphitheater, and a picnic pavilion are close to the campground. A boat ramp affords boating and fishing enthusiasts access to the 200 acre lake. Go 2 miles south on Route 193. Cross Route 12 at traffic light. Make a right onto Reardon Road. For the campground travel 1/2 mile and turn left. Travel 2/10 of mile and make a right.
