DAM SITE (FORT GIBSON LAKE) (OK), OKDescriptionFort Gibson Lake is located along the Grand (Neosho) River and is nestled in the hills of eastern Oklahoma. The lake draws its name from historic Fort Gibson, which played a prominent part in the military history of early day Oklahoma. A reconstructed log stockade stands on the site of the first log fort, and volunteers reenact the lifestyle of the late 1800s for various events throughout the year. Now a National Historic Landmark, the stockade is owned by the State of Oklahoma and is open to the public year round. Dam Site is one of 6 campgrounds on Fort Gibson Lake that is reservable through Reserve America. Reservations are available April 1 through September 30. The campground is located downstream of the Fort Gibson Dam on the west bank of the Grand (Neosho) River, and provides excellent river access. Visitors also utilize this campground while attending Old Fort Days in Fort Gibson. Bird watchers will be thrilled by the variety of migratory birds that pass through the area. Whether camping, fishing, picnicking, or just sightseeing, we invite you to come and enjoy the scenic beauty of Fort Gibson Lake.Services & Amenities:
