Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. This is a boat-in camp. It is accessible only by water. Special regulations apply. Requirements to launch: Boater must carry a bail bucket, throw line, extra oar, and must wear a life jacket while on the water. The Forest Service requires the use of portable toilet systems for all campers. These toilets must be sealable, flushable, and reusable. Bag-lined systems are not allowed. This campground is located in the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area (FGNRA). The FGNRA is participating in the Recreation Fee Demonstration Program, it states each vehicle must display a Recreation Fee Pass outside of the campground if using other recreational facilities (e.g. boat ramps, picnic areas, and day-use areas). A daily pass is $2; a 16-day pass is $5; and an annual is $20. Passes can be purchased from the Forest Service, campground managers, and local businesses. The holder of a Golden Passport will not be required to purchase a recreation fee pass if displayed on the dash of the vehicle.

From Vernal UT, take US Highway 191 north 45 miles. Cross the Flaming Gorge Dam and turn right on road leading to upper launch site at Spillway Boat Ramp. A second launch is 7 miles down the river at Little Hole Boat Ramp. Cross the dam and continue to the town of Dutch John. Turn right off Highway 191 and go east on Forest Road 075 about 6 miles. The site is 10.5 miles below Spillway and 3.3 miles below Little Hole. From Rock Springs, WY, take US Highway 191 south 63 miles. Just before crossing the dam, turn left on the road to Spillway. A second launch site is down the river at Little Hole. At the town of Dutch John, turn left off Highway 191 and go east on Forest Road 075 about 6 miles. The site is 10.5 miles below Spillway, and 3.3 miles below Little Hole.
