Description

Coles Creek Campground is located at Carlyle Lake, near Carlyle, Illinois. If you and your family are in search of fun, look no further. Whether you are land loving or ready to venture out on the open water, at Carlyle Lake there is something for everyone. You can visit for the day or pack up for a longer stay in one of the many lakeside campgrounds and enjoy being surrounded by outdoor adventures. Carlyle Lake offers many opportunities for family fun. From boating and sailing in the open waters, to the sandy beaches and shaded picnic areas, we are sure that you will find plenty of things to do. While here, visitors enjoy a leisurely stroll across the Main Dam, cycle around the lake, or a strenuous workout along the miles of hiking trails. Each year, the Corps of Engineers, along with its partners, sponsor many special events.

Alerts and Important Information

  • Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance for individual sites and 5 days in advance for the group camping area.
  • This campground requires a 2 day minimum stay on weekends.
  • This campground requires a 3 day minimum stay on holiday weekends.
  • The campground is open 1 May - 30 Sep and campsites are $14 - $28 / night and $125 - $225 per night for the group areas.
  • All sites at the campground are designated as single capacity except for double capacity sites or Buddy Sites.
  • Single capacity is defined as 1 Recreational Vehicle and 3 tents, or 4 tents if no RV with a maximum of 8 people.
  • A double occupancy site or Buddy Site may have 2 Recreational Vehicles and 6 tents, or 4 tents if no RV with a maximum of 16 people.
  • This campground has first come, first serve sites.
  • All parties camping in the group area must have a Golden Age / Access or America the Beautiful pass to receive the discounted camping price.
  • If the group are is not reserved after the 5 day window, the sites will be available first come first serve.

From I-57: Take Old US Rt 50 19 miles west through Salem, Odin and Sandoval, and turn north on Boulder Road. Take Boulder Road north for 4 miles. Turn west on 1700 north and continue until the road connects with 2400 East. Continue south to Coles Creek entrance. From I-64: Take Route 127 north to Carlyle. Travel east on Old US Route 50 for 9 miles turning north on Boulder Road. Take Boulder Road north 4 miles and turn west on 1700 north, until it connects with 2400 east. Continue south to Coles Creek entrance.
