CEDAR LAKE (OKLAHOMA) (OK), OK

Description

Cedar Lake is located in southeast Oklahoma, in the pine and hardwood covered mountains of Ouachita National Forest. Amenities include restrooms with warm showers, grills and fire rings, picnic tables, lantern poles, and picnic pavilions. Corrals are provided free of charge at developed campsites in the Equestrian Camp. Additional amenities include swimming areas, playgrounds, a volleyball court, boat ramp, trails, and fishing piers on an 86 acre lake. Talimena Scenic Drive is within 10 miles of camp.
Fall foliage season usually occurs from the last two weeks in October to the first two weeks in November. A Pay Phone is available at the Equestrian Camp.

Campers with horses MUST reserve sites at the Equestrian Loop (s)
HCLE (E loop) - sites E001 thru E020
HCMR (Main Road Loop) - sites 2 thru 15
Campers with horses are NOT allowed to reserve sites in any other Loop such as SHRV (Shady Lane), Sandy Beach, or North Shore. SHRV (Shady Lane) is RV camping - full-hookups, electric and water, Sandy Beach is electric and primitive sites, and North Shore is all non-electric. All horses must have Coggins papers to enter the campground and they must be presented upon request. Reservations must be made 10 days in advance. Pets must be leashed and are not allowed in restrooms. Maximum outboard allowed on Lake is 7.5 horsepower.

From Poteau, OK: Take US Hwy 59 South approximately 22 miles to Holson Valley Road (10 miles south of Heavener). Then turn right (west) onto Holson Valley Road and travel approximately 2.5 miles. Turn right (North) onto Cedar Lake Road and travel 1 mile to camp boundary.
From Talihina, OK: Take US Hwy 271 going east toward Poteau for 11 miles. Trun right (east) onto Holson Valley Road and travel 19 miles to Cedar Lake Road. Turn left onto Cedar Lake Road. Office phone 918-653-2991.
