BIG PINE CREEK CAMPGROUND (CA), CA

Description

Located 10 miles west of Big Pine, California, adjacent to Big Pine Creek. Situated at an elevation of 7600 feet in a stream bottom in a narrow canyon, surrounded with high mountains. Vegetation includes Jeffrey pine, sagebrush, some aspen, and cottonwood trees. Restrooms are provided. Firewood is for sale at the site. Glacier Lodge and Store is just outside the campground. Popular activities include trout fishing, hiking, bird watching, photography and horseback riding. There is wilderness hiking to glacier and lakes in John Muir Wilderness.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. This campground requires a 2 night minimum stay on weekends. This campground requires a 3 night minimum stay on holidays. There is room for only 2 passenger vehicles or 1 RV/trailer per site. A vehicle is defined as anything that requires a license, including trailers, boats, etc. A trailer is considered a vehicle. Please check in with campground manager upon arrival. This campground has first come, first serve sites.

From Highway 395, turn west on Crocker Street in Big Pine, west up Big Pine Canyon Road for 10 miles to end of road. Turn Left crossing Big Pine Creek and left past Glacier Lodge 100 yards.
