BEARTREE (VA), VA

Description

Located in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. Campground located in diverse vegetation. Facilities provided include restrooms and a playground. Iron Mountain Trail and surrounding trails open year-round. This area also offers a 14 acre lake for fishing or swimming. A Virginia state fishing license, trout stamp, and National Forest stamp are required. These can be purchased at local stores, but not at the campground. An annual Kids Fishing Derby is held the 3rd Saturday in May for kids ages 5-15. For more information please call 800-628-7202.

Alerts and Important Information

All sites at Beartree are open. Reservations are now available on the Chipmunk Loop (Sites #1 - 38) , Cluster and Group RV sites. Sites in Beaver Flats Loop are available on a first-come/first-serve basis. For more information please contact the campground at (276) 388-3642.

Canoe rentals now available on Beartree.

All cars going to the shelter except for the reservation holder will be charged a $5.00 parking fee.

For Dump Station, charge is $5.00

For Non-Campers, Showers, charge is $4.00

For Picnic Shelter, charge is $40.00

Day Use - Per Vehicle is $5.00 (1-4 persons; .50 for each additional person)

Season Pass $20.00 $10.00 First Pass All passes valid for one year $20.00 Each Additional

Take Exit 19 at Abingdon off I-81 and go onto Rt.58 East for about 13 miles to Damascus VA. Continue on Rt. 58 East for 7 more miles until you reach Beartree Recreation Area on the left.
