As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. BANDITS ROOST (NC), NCDescriptionBandits Roost Campground is located on the south side of W. Kerr Scott Reservoir in western North Carolina. Constructed in the beautiful Yadkin River Valley, the lake offers extensive opportunity for all outdoor recreational activities. The campground offers 100 campsites which include 17 tents sites and 83 standard sites with water and electric hookups. A very popular group tent area consists of a covered shelter with electricity, grill, 6 tables, water, and 7 individual tent pads. Bandits Roost is also one of the locations of an Overmountain Victory Trailhead. W. Kerr Scott Reservoir offers over 25 miles of mountain bike trails and multi-purpose trails. (Latitude, Longitude): 36.11972, -81.24528 From Winston-Salem, NC: Take US Highway 421 north to Wilkesboro. Take the Highway 268 exit and follow Highway 268 West approximately 6 miles. Turn right onto Jess Walsh Road, which is just past Goshen Fire Department. Continue on Jess Walsh Road to the end. The park attendant station will be at the end of Jess Walsh Road.
