BALD MOUNTAIN CAMPGROUND (WY), WY

Description

Located on the Medicine Wheel Passage scenic byway (US Hwy 14A) in the midst of pine and aspen forests, recreation opportunities abound from a walk to the ancient Native American Medicine Wheel, to hiking through open meadows and along breathtaking cliffs on the west rim of the mountains. Hike Porcupine and Bucking Mule Falls or drive scenic Hunt Mountain or Burgess Overlook jeep trails. At 9,200 feet in elevation, star gazing is breathtaking in the clear night air, but bring a jacket for cool evenings.

Alerts and Important Information

  • Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.
  • Two non-towed vehicles are allowed per site; the first vehicle is included in the basic fee, the second vehicle is charge $8.00, which is collected at the campground.
  • The administering organization reserves the right to substitute sites without prior notice.

    There are 2 ways to reach Bald Mountain Campground:

    1. Located 33 miles east of Lovell, Wyoming via US Highway 14A (this is different than Hwy 14). The highway between Bald Mountain and Lovell has a 10% grade.

    2. Located 73 miles west of Dayton, Wyoming via Highway 14 and 14A and Burgess Junction. This is the recommended route for RVs and motorhomes.
