Built in 1964, this 16' x 16' A-frame cabin sleeps 7 people with 2 single bunks (1 with trundle) and a second floor loft. The cabin also has a table with benches, oil stove (#1 oil ONLY), broom, mooring float (cabin users only), and outhouse. There is no phone access, and the cabin has no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags, pads, cookstove, cooking gear, #1 stove oil, and food. The immediate area in front of the cabin is a gentle slope leading down to the beach. The surrounding rainforest is primarily Sitka spruce and western hemlock with some scattered cedar. Slopes adjacent to the cabin are gentle to moderate. The nearby lagoon is an intertidal area. The cabin overlooks Anan Bay. The area provides excellent opportunities to view black and brown bear, harbor seal, bald eagle, and various gulls. Anan Wildlife Observatory: The Anan Creek Trail leads about 1 mile from the cabin to the Anan Wildlife Observatory. During the peak viewing season of July and August, Forest Service interpreters are on-site to provide current information on bear safety, trail conditions, and bear activity. For your safety, some special cautions and restrictions are necessary. Talk or make noise along the trail to alert bears of your presence. Stay in tight groups. DO NOT approach the bears Restrictions: Due to bear activity from June 15-September 15 annually, the following restrictions apply by Forest Order: Areas off the Anan Trail and beyond the immediate vicinity of the cabin are closed to foot traffic. No food, including beverages other than water, is allowed on the trail or at the Wildlife Observatory. No dogs allowed at Anan. No camping outside the Anan Bay Cabin. Fishing from the shore is allowed at the Anan trailhead only. All other off-trail areas accessing water are closed during this time. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1-September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1-April 30.

Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.
