Description

Wurts is an original homestead of Frank and Ella Wurtz in the North Fork and is on the National Historic Register. The cabin was recently restored with the help of volunteers, boy scouts, and dedicated Forest Service employees. Wurtz is a disabled accessible two-story cabin with bedrooms on both floors.

Wurtz Cabin is located 46 miles north of Columbia Falls, MT on the North Fork Road just south of the Canadian border. Wurtz Cabin is adjacent the Wild and Scenic North Fork of the Flathead River. Wurtz has rustic accomodations including propane cook stove, lights, wood stove, and vault toilet, no water is available. Wurtz's party size is twelve with two double beds, eight single beds. Please pack out what you brought including your garbage. Grizzly Bears live in the area; store your food, beverages, coolers, and garbage inside the cabin. Pets are not allowed at Wurtz. Polebridge Merchentile is located south of Wurtz and has limited supplies. Commercial use of the cabins is prohibited (outfitter guides, groups or organizations with compensated leaders/chaperones).
