Cabin is equipped with two double/1 single plywood bunks, table, benches, wood stove, and outhouse. It has no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags, pads, cookstove, cooking gear, and food. Trail to cabin crosses a slough and users should plan to cross at low tide. For boat or air charters, contact the Sitka Convention and Visitors Bureau at 907-747-5940 or www.Sitka.org. There are NO discounts for Golden Age and Golden Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. The person holding the reservation must be 18 and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30. This cabin is in a designated Wilderness area, and access by helicopter is illegal. Access by boat only.Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone. (Latitude, Longitude): 57.80611, -136.33889 Accessible year round, weather permitting. Located 65 miles northwest of Sitka on Chichagof Island within the West Chichagof-Yakobi Wilderness Area. Boat access is possible with anchorage in Mirror Harbor where a 0.9 mile trail leads to the cabin; however, local knowledge is recommended before attempting anchorage there. The White Sulphur Springs Trail begins at Mirror Harbor and leads to the cabin. The trail is fairly level and parallels Bertha Bay. Anchorage is also possible in Porcupine Bay, requiring a skiff ride to the cabin. For geographic features surrounding cabin, refer to USGS topographic maps Sitka D-8 and D-7.
