WENATCHEE GUARD STATION (WA), WADescriptionWenatchee Guard Station, located approximately 30 Miles south-east of Pomeroy, and 15 miles west of Anatone, offers a peaceful view of the northern tip of the Blue Mountains. The house, a single story wood frame structure with wood siding and shake shingles, was built by the CCC in approximately 1934-1935. It features a living room, kitchen and bedroom, and is furnished with two single beds, a double bed (all with mattresses), chairs and a table. The cabin is equipped with propane for heat, the cook stove, the refrigerator, and lighting. Most cleaning supplies, limited dishes, pots/pans, and utensils provided; however, it is strongly suggested visitors bring their own. Water is not available on site. An outhouse is located nearby. This cabin is open year round.The cabin offers a panoramic view of Wenatchee Creek and access to a scenic drive along the Wenatchee Creek Canyon. Horse and hiker trails into Wenatchee Creek can also be accessed from the cabin. Horses are allowed, although there is no corral. During winter, the cabin offers snowmobiling and cross country skiing on groomed snowmobile trails. Services & Amenities:
Alerts and Important InformationThere is no potable water at this site. Visitors must bring plenty of water for drinking, cooking and washing. Dogs are allowed at the cabin provided the owner picks up after them. If you have children or pets, be aware that this facility may have mice killing poison (d-con) placed within its perimeter. Please bring your own garbage bags and clean the facility before you leave. This is a Pack it in, Pack it out site. Please bring sleeping bags/bedding, as well as a flashlight or lantern for emergencies, first aid kit, washcloths and towels, and dish soap. All Forest Service Cabin Rentals are No Smoking facilities. Please contact the Ranger District prior to arriving at the cabin/lookout rental to check on any restrictions or conditions, such as fire closures, road, weather or storms, etc., that may affect the quality of your visit. (Latitude, Longitude): 46.125, -117.375 Wenatchee Guard Station (WA), 71 West Main Street, Pomeroy, WA 99347 The cabin is located approximately 40 miles southeast of Pomeroy, Washington on the Umatilla National Forest. From Pomeroy take 15th Street south (which becomes Peola Road at the city limits) for approximately 15 miles to the forest boundary. The paved road will end here. Continue on Forest Service Road (FSR) 40 for 17 miles to Misery Junction. Take FSR 44 east for three miles, then FSR 43 east for approximately 3 miles. The guard station will be on the left. This route may also be used during winter months by snowmobile only. The site is accessible by automobile June 1 to November 1. Winter use will require alternate transportation such as skis, snowshoes, or snowmobile. For winter use: From Pomeroy, travel east on Highway 12 to Clarkston, Washington. From Clarkston, travel south on Highway 129 to Asotin, Washington. Just before entering Asotin, turn right at the bridge on to County Road 105 to Cloverland. Continue past Cloverland to the Sno-Park. Park here, and then travel by snowmobile or cross-country ski (beginning to intermediate level skiing) southwest on FSR 43 to the junction with FSR 4304, about three miles (a terrific view is now visible). Turn right and travel west on FSR 43 for approximately 0.25 of a mile to Wenatchee Guard Station. (A Washington State Sno-Park permit is required to park at the Sno-Park.
