TOWERS ARM CABIN (AK), AK

The Towers Arm Cabin is located on Kupreanof Island, at the mouth of Towers Creek on the west side of Towers Arm in Duncan Canal. It is accessible by boat or floatplane only. From Petersburg, it is 16 miles by floatplane or 38 miles by boat. The Towers Arm Cabin is a hunter-style cabin with four single wooden bunks, table, benches, wood stove, and an outhouse. It overlooks a large tide flat that is excellent for waterfowl viewing or hunting. The surrounding terrain is fairly flat with 300' to 400' hills behind the cabin. Activities: Fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, kayaking. Wildlife: excellent waterfowl (September-November), shorebirds in early May, black bear, grouse, deer. Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.

Alerts and Important Information

You may make a reservation for an Alaska Cabin on the day of arrival, or up to 180 days in advance. Maximum length of stay is 7 consecutive days between May and September and 10 consecutive days October through April. The person holding the reservation must be at least 18 years of age, and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is NOT allowed. There are no discounts for Golden Age or Golden Access Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. The Towers Arm Cabin does not have a cook stove, mattresses, or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own cook stove, cooking gear, food, sleeping bags, and pads. Firewood is generally Firewood is generally provided, but not guaranteed. A broom, dust pan, axe and splitting maul are generally provided, but may be missing or damaged. Please report missing or damaged items to the Petersburg Ranger District. All garbage and food must be packed out. Poor weather can occasionally delay boat or floatplane travel, and cabin users should be prepared for this. Tides affect access to this cabin. Consult local tide tables before you make a reservation for the Towers Arm Cabin. Boil or treat drinking water before consumption.
