As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. TIONESTA REC. AREA CAMPGROUND (PA), PA

Description

Campground is open May 18 - October 12, 2009. Reservations are available May 18 - September 8. Campground is open September 8 - October 12 on a first-come-first-served basis. The Tionesta Recreation Area Campground is located on the Tionesta Lake project, below the Tionesta Dam. Please do not confuse this campground with Youghiogheny Lake's Outflow Campground.

Within the borders of Forest County, the state's least populated county, Tionesta Lake winds its way through the rugged hills of northwestern Pennsylvania. Nearly half of this county is public land including Tionesta Lake, the Allegheny National Forest, Cooks Forest State Park, Cornplanter and Clear Creek State Forests, the state fish hatchery, and state game lands.
The area offers a unique setting for a diversity of outdoor recreational opportunities such as camping, hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, water skiing, picnicking, sightseeing, and more. Fishermen have found the variety of fishing waters enticing and productive. Home to a remarkable variety of wildlife, Tionesta is known as one of Pennsylvania's best big game regions. Campers will find a welcome change of pace from everyday urban life.

Alerts and Important Information

FOR SITES 69 and 71 GOLDEN ACCESS PASSPORT OR AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL ACCESS PASSPORT IS REQUIRED. THESE SITES ARE HELD FOR CAMPERS WITH DISABILITIES UNTIL ALL OTHER SITES ARE SOLD.
  • Pets must be leashed and was products must be properly disposed.
  • Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance.
  • RVs and vehicles may not be parked on the grass.
  • Only 2 vehicles are allowed at each campsite.
  • Campground is located below Tionesta Dam and therefore is not on the lakeshore.
  • No alcoholic beverages.
  • This campground has first-come, first-served campsites.
  • There is a limit of 8 people with 1 wheeled camper and 1 tent per campsite, or 8 people with 2 tents per campsite.
  • Please register for your campsite to during the fee booth hours 8:00am- 10:00pm.
  • After arrival, moving from one campsite to another is strongly discouraged by the Park Manager
