THUNDER RIDGE (CO), CODescriptionLocated approximately 4.2 miles from the town of Woodland Park, Colorado Thunder Ridge Campground is one of two campgrounds within the Rampart Reservoir Recreation Area. Sitting in a ponderosa pine forest, the 21 site campground sets above the reservoir which is renowed for its great fishing. Vehicle access to the reservoir as well as the boat launch is across the dam which is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:oo p.m. The boat launch is available for use Thursday through Sunday ONLY. The campground is open from early May until early October depending upon the weather. Firewood is for sale at the campground. Because of its location in bear country, all food, coolers and toiletries must be stored inside an enclosed vehicle at all times to prevent bear conflicts. Each site contains a picnic table and fire grate. Water, dumpsters, and vault toilets are in the campground. Some sites have handicap accessibility.Services & Amenities:

REGARDLESS OF THE LENGTH OF THE PARKING SPUR, THERE MAY BE ONLY ONE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE PER SINGLE CAMP SITE. DOUBLE SITES MAY HAVE TWO RECREATIONAL VEHICLES. (Latitude, Longitude): 38.97778, -104.98167 From Colorado Springs, travel west on Hwy 24 for about 24 miles to Woodland Park. Turn north on Baldwin (which becomes Rampart Range Road). Go about 2 miles to Loy Creek Road, turn right and then to FDR 300 (Rampart Range Road) turn right. Follow signs. Rampart Reservoir entrance is about 4 miles further on the left.
