SUMMIT LAKE SOUTH (CA), CADescriptionSummit Lake South Campground is located at the south end and with in walking distance of Summit Lake. It is centrally located on the main park road. A major trailhead to the park's interior is located 1/4 mile north at the Summit Lake Ranger Station. Trails to Lassen Peak and Bumpass Hell are within 10 miles. Summit Lake is popular for swimming. Alerts and Important InformationNO RESERVATIONS ACCEPTED FROM AUGUST 1-26 DUE TO ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND REPAVING THAT WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE CAMPGROUND. LIMITED NUMBER OF FIRST COME-FIRST SERVED SITES MAY BE AVAILABLE DURING THIS TIME. Reservations must be made 4 days in advance. Additional campsites available on a first come, first served basis with no reservation required.
