SUNSET CAMPGROUND (UT), UT

Description

Sunset Campground is centrally located approximately 1.5 miles from the entrance station and Visitor Center in Bryce Canyon National Park. It is a short walk to Sunset Point, the center of the magnificent Bryce Amphitheater, which hosts a variety of opportunities including hiking trails and photography. The Bryce Canyon Shuttle, which runs from May to September, makes one of its stops at Sunset Campground. This campground is open from May to October. There are 20 tent-only campsites that are available by reservation, and 80 other tent or RV campsites that are available on a first come-first serve basis. There is one group campsite that will accommodate between 7 and 30 people, also by reservation. Reservations for the tent sites may be made up to six months in advance for the reservation season of early May through late September. Reservations for the group campsite may be made up to one year in advance for the same reservation season. All reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. There are also 99 tent or RV sites available at North Campground, one mile north of Sunset Campground.

Alerts and Important Information

This is not Sunset Campground in Farmington Canyon, which is north of Salt Lake City and is a first-come/first-serve facility.

Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance.
Maximum occupancy per campsite is 10 people with no more than 6 adults (adult = age 16 and up).
A maximum of 3 tents and 2 vehicles are allowed at each site.
Group site is for a minimum of 7, maximum of 30 people, regardless of age.
Cost for Group site is: $55.00 for 7-10 people, $70.00 for 11-15 people, $80.00 for 16-20 people, $90.00 for 21-25 people, and $100.00 for 26-30 people. Check in with Campground Host upon arrival with Group Site reservation.
No more than 8 vehicles are allowed at the Group site parking area.
Reserving blocks of sites for commercial group camping or large family group gatherings is prohibited. These are single family RV/Tent sites.
All vehicles must be parked on the site pad including pop-up tent trailers.
Keep tents a distance of 20 feet (6m) or less from the fire grate.
Trenching, digging or disturbing the soil/vegetation is prohibited.
Moving or altering campsite facilities, i.e. picnic tables, fire grates, etc is prohibited.
Some sites are not level and may require additional leveling equipment. (See the individual site descriptions.)
Gathering firewood, pine cones or pine needles found within the Park boundaries is prohibited. Firewood is available at the General Store. Fires MUST always be contained within the fire grate and MUST be attended at all times. Fires must be cold to the touch before leaving the campsite.
There are no electric, water, or sewer hook-ups at this campground.
Dispose of wash water in the service sinks adjoining the campground restrooms, not at freshwater taps. Portable showers are prohibited.
ONLY dispose of gray water/sewage at the dump station. ONLY fill fresh water tanks at the dump station.
A dump station is available on the south end of North Campground for a $2.00 use fee.
Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Unreasonable noise is not allowed at any time.
The use of generators is allowed in RV areas only. Generator hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Keep ALL food and trash stored inside your vehicle, not outside where it will attract wild animals, such as skunks.
Campers must have a valid National Park entrance permit or pass before camping available at the Bryce Canyon Entrance Station.
No ATV's or ORV's allowed in the park. Bikes are allowed only on paved roads. ATV and Off-road biking trails available outside the park.
Motorized and non-motorized scooters are prohibited throughout the Park.
Pets must be on a 6ft (2m) leash and under the owner's control AT ALL TIMES. Owners are responsible for disposing of pet excrement.
Pets are not allowed on the trails or at the viewpoints.

From highway 89 approximately 7 miles south of Panguitch, Utah, go east on highway 12 approximately 14 miles to highway 63. Turn south on highway 63 to the main entrance of Bryce Canyon National Park. Sunset Campground is on the west (right) side of the road approximately 1.5 miles past the Visitor Center.
