STUART RECREATION AREA (WV), WV

Description

Stuart Recreation Area is set in a mixed forest along the Shavers Fork River. The river is stock with trout providing excellent fishing. There are also local caves to explore plenty of hiking trails; one popular trail leads to the nearby Blackwater Falls.

There is also a day use area with three pavilions, open maintained fields and a beach on the river front.

Reservations can be made mid-April through mid-October. For the single family sites reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance, for the Group areas they can be made up to one year in advance. All reservations must be made at least 4 days prior to your intended arrival date.

Alerts and Important Information

No admittance to the campground from 9:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. when the gate is locked. For entry after 9:00 p.m., contact the host at the number provided. After Labor Day, the day-use areas close at 6:00 p.m.
  • This campground has first-come, first-served sites
  • Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance
  • Dump station on site.
  • A per day per vehicle fee for extra vehicles will be collected at the campground - Maximum 2 vehicles per site

The discount passport fee for electric sites is calculated on 1/2 the use fee plus the electric fee. The electric fee is not discounted.

From Elkins, West Virginia, take Highway 219 to Highway 33. Travel east for approximately 4 miles, turn north on old Route 33 and travel for 2 miles, turn left at Highway 6 (at the Stuart Recreation Area directional sign), travel 1/4 mile to entrance.
