STOLLE MEADOWS CABIN (ID), ID

Description

Golden Age and Golden Access Passport discounts do not apply to Forest Service Rental Cabins.

Located in west central Idaho 30 miles from the town of Cascade. This historic one-room cabin has been restored to near original condition. Popular activities are hiking, fishing, sight-seeing, wildlife watching and trail riding. The cabin is situated in a mixed growth lodgepole pine forest on a bluff overlooking a meadow. Elevation is 5,300 feet. Hot springs are nearby. Access is by ski or snowmobile in the winter.

Items available at the cabin include beds and foam pads, table and chairs, wood stove and firewood, propane cooking stove and propane, pots and pans, dishes and tableware, solar lights, and first aid kit. Drinking water is available year-round from a hand pump outside the cabin.

For more information, the Forest Service Office is open on Monday to Friday from 8 am-4:30 pm.

Alerts and Important Information

  • Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance.
  • Garbage service is not provided, please pack it out.
  • There is no electricity.
  • The nearest telephone is at Warm Lake Lodge.
  • Access is by ski or snowmobile in the winter(6.5 miles).
  • Tents or additional camping outside the cabin is Not allowed.
Please make sure you have the cabin combination with you before you arrive at the site. The combination is included in your confirmation letter. Pelase contact the Cascade Ranger District Office at 208 382-7400 prior to your arrival to confirm the combination. After dialing in the combination to the cabin on the lock, the body of the lock and the hasp must be squeezed together for the lock to open. The cabin lighting is provided by solar panels. Wintertime conditions, including rain, ice and snow, can limit the amount of light available in the solar cells. Renters should bring a flashlight and/or lantern for supplementary lighting.

From Boise, Idaho, take Highway 55 north, 85 miles to Cascade. Turn east on Warm Lake Highway and go 25 miles to Stolle Meadows Road. Turn south and go 5 miles to cabin.
