Description

Soapstone Campground is located approximately 15 miles outside the town of Kamas, Utah, adjacent to the Provo River. This campground is at an elevation of 8,200 feet, and is situated in the mountains in a conifer and aspen forest. Restrooms are provided. Daytime temperatures are 70-77.

Alerts and Important Information

Campers must have a recreation pass before camping. Pass fees are: 3 days -$6 , Weekly - $12 , and Annual -$45. All fees are per vehicle.

This campground has first-come, first-served sites. *Reservations must be made at least 5 days in advance.* This campground requires 2 night minimum stay on weekends. This campground requires 3 night minimum stay on holidays. * This campground has a 7 day maximum stay limit. *If customer takes Sat. they must take Fri. If customer wants to reserve just Fri. that will be ok with the campground*Single sites hold only 2 vehicles maximum and an extra vehicle fee will be collected per day on 2nd vehicle. Tow and towed vehicle equal 1 vehicle. Remember to add the length of the tow vehicle when deciding if your rig will fit a site. No horses. Site capacities strictly enforced

A recreation use pass is required on the Mirror Lake Highway. Pass fees are: 3 days -$6 , Weekly - $12 , and Annual -$45. All fees are per vehicle. Pass is available at Kamas, Bear River, and Evanston Ranger District offices, local businesses, and from hosts. To check on camping conditions, call the Kamas Ranger Station at 435-783-4338

From Salt Lake City, Utah, take Highway 80 east for 30 miles to Highway 40. Go south on Highway 40 for 1 mile to Kamas exit. Go southeast on Highway 189 for 12 miles to Kamas. Turn east on Highway 150, travel 15 miles to campground.
