SHRODE LAKE CABIN (AK), AKDescriptionClick here for more cabin information and maps. Shrode Cabin is located on the northeast shore of Shrode Lake, near Long Bay, off Culross Passage in Prince William Sound, southeast of Whittier, Alaska. The cabin is located near treeline in an open grassy and muskeg area surrounded by mountains, offering a secluded getaway in majestic surroundings. This cabin offers possibilities for wildlife viewing, photography, exploring, hunting and fishing. The topography is very rugged, limiting hiking in the area. Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, an oil stove for heat, and an outhouse. Bring #1 oil or kerosene for the oil stove (1 gallon per day), Mattresses and cooking utensils are not provided. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear, and food. Maximum number of people is 6.Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.
