SHELTER BAY CABIN (AK), AKDescriptionClick here for more cabin information and maps. Shelter Bay Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, a wood and oil stove for heat, and an outhouse. Bring #1 oil or kerosene for the oil stove, or can use wood (not provided). Mattresses and cooking utensils are not provided. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food.Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone. Services & Amenities:Alerts and Important InformationTreat or boil water before consumption. Occasional poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared. In fall, winter, and early spring, the cabin may be inaccessible due to frozen lake surface (float planes cannot land). Please contact the local Forest Service Ranger District office for information prior to making reservations during these periods. From August 1 - 31, only one reservation per person is permitted. Access is by float plane at high tide (20 minutes from Cordova) or
wheeled plane at low tide (landing strip located 350 yards north of the
