Description

Rex Hale Campground is located along Highway 14-16-20, the Buffalo Bill Scenic Highway, along the Shoshone River. It is about 32 miles west of Cody, Wyoming and 18 miles ease of the Ease Gate of Yellowstone National Park. The View from the campground is of spectacular red cliffs where big horn sheep may be seen early in the season. The campground sits near the bank of the river which allows easy access for fishing, bird watching or wildlife watching. Each campsite has a table fire ring and bear box for storage. Services include water during the peak season and amenities through out the open season include, vault toilets garbage collection and some sites have electric and water hookups. There is no RV dump station in the campground. There is a dump station located in Buffalo Bill State Park to the east near Cody. Firewood for gathering is abundant in the area. This area is frequented by grizzly bears. All food, beverages, and coolers and other attractants must be stored and unavailable. Boxes are provided in each campsite for storage. Campground host on site can provide more information. Garbage must be properly disposed of in dumpsters, not in campfires. The Wapiti Wayside located about 5 miles to the east of the campground has interpretive information on grizzly bears and other wild life in the area. A site fee is for one vehicle. A vehicle pulling a trailer or an RV with a vehicle in tow is considered one vehicle. Other vehicles will be considered extra vehicles and additional fees will be charged at the site.
