Racetrack Cabin will be closed from August 2, 2010 through August 27, 2010. Reservations can be made up to 1 day in advance.
LOCK COMBINATION NEEDED: Please contact Pintler Ranger District at (406)-859-3211 or (406)-846-1770 Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 prior to arrival.
There is no electricity/water/sewer. Visitors of Racetrack Cabin should bring all drinking, cooking, and washing water.
The cabin is equipped with minimal cooking equipment. Visitors should plan to bring their own dishes, cooking utensils, toilet paper, sleeping bags, pillows, and axe.
Remote location. An hour from emergency services or nearest town. The nearest medical facilities are located in Deer Lodge.
Primitive area. Use extreme caution with children and pets.
Potential exposure to Hantavirus due to presence of mouse droppings inside the cabin.
Hay and feed must be certified weed free.
ATVs on designated trails only.
Bring garbage bags. "Pack it in, Pack it out".
The Racetrack cabin is located south west of Deer Lodge, Montana. Approximately 16.5 miles west of Racetrack Exit 195 off I-90.
There is an outhouse located near the cabin.
There are no housekeeping services, renters are responsible for cleaning the cabin upon departure (sweeping, mopping, clean all surfaces). Mop, Broom, and Bucket are provided.
Cell phone coverage is minimal to none.
Access to the cabin is limited by the weather conditions. Four wheel drive is necessary year-round.
During summer months the roads are usually fair; however, a high clearance vehicle is required.
During the fall and winter roads are not plowed into the area and often these roads are not passable. Be prepared to find alternative means, such as cross-country skis or snowmobile, for a distance that could be up to 14 miles.
These are just guidelines. At no time during the year can we guarantee access by vehicle to the cabin because of ever changing weather/road conditions.
The Beaverhead-Deerlodge Visitor/Travel map is necessary to find the route to Racetrack Cabin. The non-refundable rental fee is $20/night for up to 7 consecutive nights.
Cabin can only be reserved up to 180 days in advance.

THE BEAVERHEAD NATIONAL FOREST VISITOR/TRAVEL MAP IS NECESSARY TO FIND THE ROUTE TO RACETRACK CABIN. THE CABIN IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 16.5 MILES WEST OF RACETRACK EXIT #195 OFF I-90. TAKE RACETRACK EXIT#195 OFF OF I-90/APPROX 8 MILES SOUTH OF DEER LODGE. GO WEST ACROSS THE FRONTAGE ROAD. FOLLOW THE SIGNS TO RACETRACK CAMPGROUND. APPROXIMATELY 11 MILES. CONTINUE ON ROAD #169 PAST CAMPGROUND ENTRANCE SIGN. APPROXIMATELY FIVE MILES PAST THE CAMPGROUND YOU WILL CROSS A BRIDGE. CABIN IS APPROX. .75 OF A MILE PAST THE BRIDGE, ON THE LEFT.
