As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. PRIEST RIVER (ID), IDDescriptionPriest River Recreation Area is located on the banks of the Priest River just upstream from where it flows into the Pend Oreille (pond o'ray) River. The Priest River Wildlife area is adjacent to this park offering wonderful opportunities for bird watching and walking the dogs. Area attractions include the Albeni Falls Project Visitor Center with exhibits on history and natural history. In addition, there are tours of the Albeni Falls Dam which are given daily Memorial Day to Labor Day from the Visitor Center 2 mi E of Newport, Wa.The campground offers 20 campsites (no-hookups). Other amenities include a dump station, hot showers, a boat ramp, pay phone, a playground, a shelter, a baseball field and a swimming beach.
