POSEY LAKE CAMPGROUND (UT), UT

Description

Campground is located next to a beautiful, small fishing lake in a forest aspen and ponderosa pine. Campground elevation is just under 8000 ft. Access to a hiking trail from campground to lookout on a mountainside. It is close to Bryce Canyon National Park, Kodachrome State Park, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Petrified Forest State Park, and Anasazi State Park. Vehicles over 30 ft. in length are not recommended because of turns. Also hiking access to the Great Western Trail.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 7 days in advance. A second vehicle fee of $4.00 will be collected at the campground for campers with more than one vehicle. Access into the lake for non-motorized boats only. A separate area in the campground is available for day use only. Walk-in sites are available No ATVs or OHVs allowed. Pets must be leashed. Quiet hours are 10pm-6am. Campers must occupy the site within 24 hours or forfeit the site. This campground has first-come, first-served sites. Site access is difficult. About 14 miles of the road is gravel, with some steep sections.

From Highway 12 (at Posy Lake Hells Backbone sign) in Escalante turn left at the elementary school. Drive 16 miles to campground turning left at junction and travel 2 miles to Posey Lake campground.
