PAULSON BAY CABIN (AK), AKDescriptionClick here for more cabin information and maps. The Paulson Bay Cabin is situated at the head of Paulson Bay, on the west side of Cochrane Bay in Prince William Sound, southeast of Whittier, Alaska. The terrain is rolling and grades into rugged mountains. The cabin is set in an open wooded area with muskeg nearby, offering seclusion and majestic scenery, as well as excellent fishing and hunting. Hiking in the area is fairly easy because of relatively little brush to inhibit movement. A small boat can increase the opportunity to explore the bay and surrounding coast. Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, wood stove for heat (splitting maul, crosscut saw, wood shed, firewood), and an outhouse. Mattresses and cooking utensils are not provided. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear, and food. Enter from north of bay, well to the right of center (along the northwestern side of Cochrane Bay). This bay is not obvious, the mouth is partially obscured by 5 small islands. Beware of submerged rock ledges between islands and off coastal points. The cabin is on a bluff and is accessed by a steep trail from the beach.Effective November 17, 2003, reservations for Alaska cabins will be subject to a new policy allowing only one change per reservation. A change in reservation is defined as a modification to the start or end date of the reservation. After one change has been made, if additional changes are desired, the customer must cancel the reservation and at a later time, re-book the new dates. This policy has been established to assure that reservations for cabins are fair and equitable for everyone.
