ONEGUME (MN), MN

Description

Onegume Campground is located in the Chippewa National Forest, approximatel eighteen miles northwest of Deer River off of State Highway 46. Little Cut Foot Sioux Lake is adjacent to the Campground, which provides access to the larger Lake Winnibigoshish by boat. Several boat accesses are available nearby with no launch fee. The Campground provides an accessible fishing ramp and limited boat slips on site. Electricity is available in all sites except 1, 2, 3, and 40. An enclosed, lighted fish cleaning station is also on site. The Cut Foot Sioux Visitor Center is located just 1 mile north of the campground. An accessible trail is provided. Numerous non-motorized trails are nearby. Come out and enjoy the Chippewa National Forest!

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations need to be made at least four days in advance of the first night of camping.
Reservations are accepted from June 1st thru Labor Day
At the beginning and end of the season the Campground is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The 2008 Camping Opening and Closing dates are:

  • Opens May 1st at approximately 8:00 a.m.
  • Closes October 15th for the season.
Additional camping units staying in the same site, such as more than one sleeping tents and additional campers, will require additional camping fees. See the entrance fee board or call the Deer River Ranger District office at 218-246-2123 if there is a question on this. Additional camping units are $21.00 per night. There is no longer a fee for extra vehicles.
Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after.
Dry slab firewood bundles are available for a small fee when the campground host is present.
Reservation campers need to stop at the entrance station to see the rules and regulations. All rules are enforced.

Onegume is located on State Highway 46, approximately 18 miles northwest of Deer River, Minnesota. Highway 46 is a Forest Service Scenic Byway, known as the "Avenue of the Pines".
