As the nation's largest federal provider of outdoor and water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you and your family to have a safe and enjoyable visit to one of the Corps' more than 400 lakes and more than 2,400 recreation sites nationwide. During your visit to these sites or the thousands of other federal lands and waters, we encourage you and your loved ones to always wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or playing on or near the water. We need your help to reduce the number of water-related injuries and deaths. Visitor safety is the Corps' number one priority. We actively promote water and boater safety and education programs. NORTH OVERLOOK CAMP (IA), IA

Description

North Overlook Campground is located on Lake Red Rock, Iowa's largest lake. Just 10 minutes from Pella, known for its Dutch heritage and 15 minutes from Knoxville, Sprintcar Capital of the World. North Overlook Campground is perfect for campers with smaller units, providing well shaded sites and easy access to North Overlook Beach and a 13 mile paved hiking/biking trail. Campground programs are given at the amphitheater on weekends Memorial Day through Labor Day. White pelicans migrate through the lake area every spring and fall. Large numbers of bald eagles are observed during winter months (Nov- Mar). The area is an hour's drive from Des Moines, Iowa's capital, which has shopping malls, museums, zoo and many other attractions.
